Product description

Spiral wound seals are made of various sealing materials in different variants with or without metal auxiliary rings. Seals with these metal rings have the following advantages:

  1. High blowout resistance (up to 320 bar).
  2. The inner ring protects the seal material from overheating, impurities from the medium and also reduces the turbulence of the medium in the pipe.
  3. The outer ring centers the seal in the flange and prevents damage during tightening.

Product variants

Basic types according to DIN, BS, API and ANSI standards. See the material data sheet for an overview of the dimensions offered.

  1. POWERgasket SWG - gasket without ring.
  2. POWERgasket SWG-IR - seal with inner ring.
  3. POWERgasket SWG-OR - seal with outer ring.
  4. POWERgasket SWG-IOR - seal with inner and outer ring.

Uses and Benefits

These seals are particularly suitable for flange joints with variable pressures and temperatures and can withstand temperatures up to 1000°C depending on the material used.

  1. They can be used over a wide pressure and temperature range.
  2. Easy to install due to their design.
  3. SWG-IOR eliminates installation errors.
  4. Easy removal during disassembly due to non-stick surface.
  5. No damage to the flange surface.

  • The spiral part of the gasket is made by co-winding the steel strip and the sealing material. The sealing material is most often expanded graphite, PTFE, ceramics or mica.
  • Ceramics or Mica are intended for extremely high temperatures and it is advisable to combine them with graphite to obtain better joint tightness.
